Intel firm to suspend business in Russia
Intel Corp (INTC.O), a leading American chipmaker, announced on Tuesday that it has halted business operations in Russia, joining a spate of other corporations that have left the nation in the aftermath of its invasion of Ukraine.
The company said it has established business continuity measures to minimize the impact on its global operations after suspending shipments to customers in Russia and Belarus last month.
“Intel continues to oppose Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and calls for a fast return to peace,” the company said.
International Business Machines (IBM) also halted shipments after Ukraine urged US cloud and software businesses to stop doing business with Russia.
In Russia, where corporations and government agencies have depended on technology developed in the West as the basis for their owned-and-operated IT systems, IBM, Dell Technologies, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise lead the market, according to Reuters.
