IOF intends to build dozens of settlement units in Jerusalem
The Israeli occupation authorities announced a tender for constructing of 83 settlement housing units, in the “Givat Hamatos” settlement, which is built on occupied Jerusalem lands according to Israeli media.
Israeli media revealed that the tender was put forward immediately after the visit of US President “Joe Biden” to the occupied territories.
The settlement of “Givat Hamatos” was established on Mount Abu Ghneim, rising 813 meters above sea level between Beit Safafa and Tyre Baher.
The new settlement plan was promoted between 2007 and 2012, and includes the construction of about 2,600 settlement units, the construction of a hotel complex along Hebron Road, a work area and municipal services, and the new settlement construction can isolate the city of Jerusalem from Bethlehem.
In mid-November, a tender was issued to build 1,257 new housing units at the site.
The latest data asserted the number of settlers in the occupied West Bank is close to half a million settlers, not including 220,000 in occupied Jerusalem.
