Musk asks whistleblower’s testimony against Twitter
Papers added to a lawsuit file today, Monday, showed that American billionaire Elon Musk requested the summons of a former Twitter official after he filed a complaint against the company, as part of Musk’s effort to gain access to documents and data on random accounts and alleged weaknesses in the platform’s security.
The subpoena comes as Musk is locked in a legal battle to end a deal he made to buy Twitter for $44 billion.
Musk asked that Peter Zatko provide information, mostly about the way Twitter counts random accounts on Twitter.
Musk said he is withdrawing from his agreement to buy the company because it misled him and the regulators about the true number of random or automated accounts on its short blogging platform.
But Musk is also seeking access to documents and data about alleged attempts to hide vulnerabilities in the platform’s security and “Twitter’s involvement in any illegal activity.”
So far, a Twitter spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
Earlier this year, Zatko, a notorious hacker widely known as “Madge”, terminated his term as Twitter’s head of security, and said in his communication that went public last week that the company had falsely claimed that it had a security plan in place. court.
Twitter and Musk exchanged lawsuits. They are heading to a five-day trial that begins on October 17.
Musk asked to withdraw from the agreement, while Twitter is asking Chancellor Kathleen McCormick, a judge in the Delaware Supreme Court, to rule that he must buy the company at the agreed amount of $ 54.20 per share.
The value of Twitter’s stock fell slightly in New York on Monday, to $ 40.36.
