Abbas participates in Abu Akleh’s funeral from Ramallah headquarters
With a massive official and popular attendance, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas attended the funeral ceremony of martyr journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh on Thursday from the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
When the body of the martyr Abu Aqila arrived at the presidential headquarters, a guard of honor formed to salute it, and it was carried on the shoulders while the Palestinian national anthem and funeral music were played.
After the body of the martyr Abu Aqila arrived at the presidential offices, the President laid a wreath on her body, which was draped in the Palestinian flag, before it was taken to the French Hospital in Jerusalem, where it will be buried tomorrow.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, members of the Liberation Organization’s Executive Committees and the “Fatah” movement’s central committee, senior civil and military officials, a number of ministers, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Palestine.
Besides, a large number of journalists, media professionals, and colleagues of the martyr all attended the funeral ceremony. Aside from faction representatives, governmental and civil institutions, and significant groups of our people.
A huge number of journalists and official and popular events attended the formal funeral procession for the martyr Abu Aqila, which began at the Istishari Hospital in the city of Ramallah.
Colleague Abu Aqleh was killed in Jenin camp yesterday, Wednesday, after being shot in the head by Israeli occupation troops despite wearing a protective jacket and helmet bearing the press logo.
