TikTok new feature to reduce time on its platform
“Take a Break”
TikTok announced the addition of a new feature that helps users reduce the time spent daily browsing its platform.
TikTok stated, “It will fight what it called the phenomenon of keeping the user as long as possible on the pages on which other sites and apps operate in various ways, to increase advertisers”.
The new feature, which will be available over the next few weeks, will allow users to control the time spent browsing the app by sending notifications and warnings if they spend too much time using the platform.
If you don’t want to spend more than 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 minutes on TikTok each time, you can ask the app to tell you when you have spent this time, according to Sky News Arabic.
TikTok has installed a new dashboard for screen time, allowing the user to know exactly how long you spend on the app every week through the new dashboard you can split your time day and night, which is helpful if you are looking to reduce screen time before bedtime.
The user can ask “TikTok” to review his control panel every week so that it does not become another easy-to-forget routine task.
According to the study, people who spend more time using social media are less happy, and excessive use of this technique can inherit problems, in some cases reaching depression, accidents work, and even death.
Earlier, Instagram had launched a similar feature, called “Take a Break”, for the same purpose of protecting users from overuse of the Internet and helping them know the time spent daily on its apps.
Experts at TikTok believe that the new feature “will create a better awareness of positive digital habits” and help “support the digital well-being of our society as they create and discover on our platform.”
