WhatsApp introduces three new privacy features
WhatsApp recently revealed that it will offer its users 3 new privacy-related features, with the aim of giving them greater control over their privacy within the popular instant messaging app.
WhatsApp allowed its users to leave groups without informing the rest of the members, as only group admins will be informed, and users will be able to select who can see them “online”.
As for the third feature, which WhatsApp indicated that it will launch soon without setting a specific date, it is blocking screenshots of one-time messages, that is, those sent through the “view once messages” mode.
The most prominent feature is to prevent users from taking screenshots of photos and videos sent in the “view once messages” mode. That their privacy is more important than its previous rules.
screenshots includes only photos and videos, sent in the “view once messages” mode and does not include written chats, indicating that the mere entry of this feature to WhatsApp means that there is a possibility to expand its role in the future.
The most important feature for users will be the ability to specify who can see them “online”, and it will make a difference for people who feel that they are under the light and there are those who monitor them every time they enter the application to bombard them with its messages.
The options for this feature vary between preventing everyone from seeing them online or selecting specific contacts to prevent them from doing so, or leaving the situation as it is currently, and thus WhatsApp has once again fulfilled the wishes of its users by offering features that it did not want to offer previously.
