Israeli settlers assault Palestinians in Hebron, destroy shops, vehicles
Israeli settlers covered and backed by Israeli soldiers on Friday night assaulted Palestinians in the Israeli-controlled old town of the southern West Bank city of Hebron causing damage to shops and vehicles, local sources reported.
It said dozens of settlers threw rocks at the Palestinians’ shops and vehicles in Shalaleh street in the old town while the soldiers were monitoring and did not interfere to stop them.
The Israeli soldiers, however, later entered the settlers in their attack and fired stun grenades at the Palestinians pushing them to shut down their shops and exit the area.
Sources said that several shop windows and vehicles were destroyed in the attack.
Meanwhile, Israeli settlers in the Tul Rumeida area of Hebron attacked a Palestinian family while its members were crossing an Israeli checkpoint.
They also assaulted a local activist and attempted to stop him from filming the invasion.
