Russia produces radars to combat marching helicopters
Small-sized drones that perform reconnaissance and guidance pose significant risks to Russian forces involved in the Ukraine operation.
Despite their limited reflective surface, micro drones can be detected by conventional air thrusters. However, when the four-propeller helicopter is stuck in the sky, it is impossible to detect.
A team of young Russian specialists from the company “Bazovy technology” designed a small-sized radar capable of catching an unwanted guest even if it is fixed and stuck in the air.
According to the young engineers, the three-coordinate and multi-ray antennas allow for the development of technical specifications for small-sized radars in the Russian Armed Forces’ arsenal.
The promising new radar is determined by its capacity to work in all weather conditions, day and night, and to obtain results in an online (real-time) system, as well as its integration with the system for silencing hostile drones and its low energy consumption. “Volna” was the name given to the radar.
The new radar is ready for serial production, and a test batch of “Volna” radars has been produced for use in Ukraine’s neighboring regions, it can be used to safeguard a variety of installations.
One radar has a range of 30 kilometers when such radars are networked together, the area they cover grows exponentially.
