Neymar wants to stay at Paris Saint Germain
The Brazilian with a world record transfer has been linked with a move from the club.
Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar would love to stay at the club this summer and beyond if he had his way, his comments to the French press this weekend confirm.
PSG are currently on their preseason tour in Japan and celebrated their second win in the Far East with a 3-0 win over Uwara Reds on Saturday.
Neymar’s comments later in the afternoon made to the AFP in Tokyo were circulated online, prompting the Brazilian to state that he wanted to stay at the Parc des Princes.
“No one at the club has told me anything about my future plans, the way things are,” he added.
“I don’t know what plans they have for me – I want to stay” repeated Neymar.
Reports had previously claimed that PSG was looking to sell their world record €222m from FC Barcelona in 2017 and that Neymar was also ready to flee the Qatari-backed giants following comments from President Nasser al-Khelaifi in the media.
Recently, there has been scrutiny of Neymar’s possible departure in the current summer transfer window In an Interview with MARCA Al-Khelaifi declined to name Neymar but stressed his club now wants Christophe Galtier to lead the club “Young, talented, dedicated players with a winning mentality, people who want to die for this badge”.
“We want to be stronger together, play as a team and stand above everything else for the club,” Al-Khelaifi went on to add “Some will come and some will go” but these negotiations would remain private.
Earlier this week it was also said Neymar had been offered Premier League champions Manchester City, who turned him down. However, their manager Pep Guardiola has insisted reports about it were incorrect.
“I’m so sorry for Le Parisien, but it’s not true” protested Guardiola.
“I feel sorry for them because the information they received is wrong. Neymar is an incredible player and from my information, he is a nice guy.”
“Let’s express it in Paris. The city buys 150 players every summer and that’s not true. Of course, I feel sorry for Neymar.” finished the Catalan.
With a contract running until 2027, Neymar will start the Ligue 1 season away at Clermont Foot with PSG on August 6.
